Quick summary
- owntent is two things: a creation studio (scripts, storyboards, AI-generated stills and clips, editing) and a viewing platform (short-form dramas and webtoons, fan memberships).
- You own the content you create. Creators keep ownership of their work and grant us only the license needed to host and display it.
- Fans pay with credits — one-time top-ups, never an auto-renewing card charge. Credits are a digital product you can use immediately, so purchases are non-refundable as a rule (mandatory consumer-law rights, non-delivery, and failed features are the exceptions below).
- AI-generated content is labeled as such on the platform.
- Be legal, respect IP, no NSFW or impersonation. Full rules in our Acceptable Use policy.
1. The service
owntent provides (a) a creation studio where creators write, storyboard, generate, and edit short-form dramas and webtoons — including AI-assisted generation of text, images, audio, and video; and (b) a viewing platform where fans watch published series, unlock episodes, tip creators, and join fan memberships.
Parts of the studio run locally in your browser and on your device; published content, account data, credit wallets, and membership records are stored on our servers so they work across devices.
We may add, change, or discontinue features. If a change materially reduces something you paid for, we will notify you and provide a remedy consistent with the Credits section below.
2. Accounts
You can browse free content without an account. An account (email sign-in) is required for purchases, memberships, publishing, and creator payouts. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 14 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to create an account.
3. Credits, payments & refunds
One-time top-ups only. Fans purchase credits as one-time transactions. We do not auto-charge your card on a schedule. Memberships and episode unlocks are paid from your credit balance; when a membership period ends it renews from your balance only if sufficient credits remain, and otherwise simply lapses.
Merchant of record. Payments are processed by our merchant-of-record partner (currently Polar), which handles card processing, receipts, and applicable taxes. The prices shown at checkout are final.
What credits are. Credits are a prepaid balance usable for episode unlocks, creator tips, fan memberships, and AI-generation features on owntent. Credits are not money, are not transferable between accounts, and do not expire.
No refunds (as a rule). Credits are delivered to your wallet immediately on payment and are usable right away — a digital product whose provision begins at purchase. Because we disclose this immediate access at checkout and you consent to it, purchased credits and anything paid for with credits (episode unlocks, creator tips, memberships, completed AI generations) are non-refundable and non-cancellable as a rule. The exceptions are: (a) where mandatory consumer law guarantees a withdrawal or refund right — we refund to the extent that law requires (for example, a statutory right of withdrawal for unused credits whose content delivery has not begun, under the Korean e-commerce act); (b) where payment succeeded but a system error left credits ungranted — we grant them or refund; and (c) where a paid feature failed to deliver — we re-credit your balance. Bonuses. Promotional or bonus credits (e.g. the first top-up bonus) have no cash value, are consumed after purchased credits, and are excluded from refund and re-credit calculations.
4. Creators, ownership & revenue sharing
You own your work. Creators retain all ownership of the content they create and publish. By publishing on owntent you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, encode, display, and distribute that content on the platform (including previews and promotional surfaces) for as long as it remains published. Unpublishing ends the license except for caches and copies fans already lawfully accessed.
Revenue sharing. Fan spending attributable to a creator (memberships, unlocks, tips) accrues to that creator's earnings balance under the revenue-share terms presented at creator onboarding. Payouts require identity (KYC) and tax information, are subject to a hold period covering refunds and chargebacks, and follow the schedule and minimum amounts in the creator agreement.
Your responsibility. You must hold the rights to everything you publish — including source material you adapt and reference images you upload. IP disputes may lead to takedown and withheld earnings for the disputed work while resolved.
5. AI-generated content
owntent's studio uses third-party and self-hosted AI models to generate text, images, audio, and video. Published works made with AI are disclosed as AI-made on their viewing pages.
No adult or NSFW generation. owntent is a general-audience platform. Generating adult, NSFW, pornographic, sexually explicit, or sexually suggestive content is prohibited — there is no age-gated or "adult" mode that permits it. Content published to the viewing platform is screened by a content-moderation service before it is distributed, and anything flagged is reviewed and may be removed. The prohibited-content rules (see Acceptable Use) apply to all generation — prompts and outputs alike — and violations lead to removal and account action. AI outputs may be imperfect; verify before relying on them commercially.
Independence. owntent is an independent product. When we name a model (e.g. "powered by Seedance" or "Kling"), that is an attribution only — owntent is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any model provider, and model names are trademarks of their respective owners. Features are described by what owntent itself delivers, not by provider claims.
6. Acceptable use
No unlawful content, no adult, NSFW, pornographic, sexually explicit, or sexually suggestive content or generation, no impersonation or deepfakes of real people, no infringement of others' IP, no harassment, and no attempts to break or abuse the service (including scraping, credential attacks, or circumventing paywalls). The full policy lives at /acceptable-use. We may remove content and suspend accounts that violate it.
7. Disclaimers & liability
The service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for claims arising from the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD $100. Nothing here limits liability for willful misconduct, gross negligence, or anything that cannot be limited under applicable law.
8. Changes, termination & governing law
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on the site or by email at least 7 days before they take effect. You may stop using the service at any time. Purchased credits are non-refundable as a rule per section 3, and this does not limit any withdrawal or refund right guaranteed by mandatory consumer law. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes go to the courts with jurisdiction over our registered office, without limiting mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
